Own a piece of New Orleans history!

These roof slates are from New Orleans buildings that were torn down. The age of the slates are from 1760-1870.Some of the slate came over on ships where they were used as ballast. Other slate was mined in the Northern Mississippi Valley and barged down the Mississippi River to New Orleans

This original photo is from a process that renders the "white" parts of the black and white photo transparent. I first put a layer of either gold or copper leaf foil on the slate and then mount the photo on top of that so the gold or copper shines though the transparent areas.

The texture of the slate is transformed through the photo.

Then a coat of UV varnish is applied to protect the photo for many years.

Either size comes with your choice of gold or copper leaf.

Slates come with a Certificate of Authenticity with the date and place the photo was taken.

Almost any of my angel photos can work for this process. Let me know which one you are interested in.
